The Lir Jet has landed in Florida to go back into training with Brendan Walsh for the 2022 season

The Lir Jet has been on a well-deserved holiday in Kentucky since easily winning the prestigious Franklin-Simpson Stakes (Grade 2) at Kentucky Downs on 11th September.

Brendan Walsh, who last week saddled Maxfield to Grade 1 glory at Churchill Downs for owners Godolphin said; “The Lir Jet arrived back to me on Monday night, and he looks in fantastic condition. After Kentucky Downs I felt he needed a holiday just to freshen him up as he had a long season in the UK running in some world class races.

He showed plenty of class when he won at Kentucky Downs beating some very good opposition.

Tyler Gaffalione who rode him that day was very impressed with him. The plan is to get him back into full training before having a crack at the $1.5 million, 1351 Turf Sprint over 6.75 furlongs at the Saudi Cup Meeting in Riyadh on 26th February.

I’ll decide nearer the time whether to give him a prep run or not, but Saudi is the ultimate aim. The turf track will suit him out there and for the prize money on offer, seems the obvious route to go. I’m looking forward to getting him back training and I’m sure he’s got a big year ahead of him and will continue to give RacehorseClub members a lot of success.”

Balko Des Flos and Potters Corner to renew rivalry at Cheltenham

Balko Des Flos and Potters Corner are due to head back to Cheltenham on 10th December to renew rivalry in the cross-country chase. Balko Des Flos narrowly got the better over Potters Corner at the home of jumps racing last month but both will go into the race next Friday as major players.

Balko Des Flos’ trainer Henry De Bromhead continues to be in sensational form, most recently with Honeysuckle winning her 13th race in a row remaining unbeaten when winning the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle (Grade 1) at Fairyhouse over the weekend in the hands of Balko Des Flos’ jockey Rachael Blackmore.

Henry De Bromhead said; “Balko is in great form at home and has come out of his race at Cheltenham very well. He ran a super race giving plenty of weight to his rivals. The plan is to go back to Cheltenham next week for the cross-country race where once again I’d imagine he’ll be towards the head of the market. His long term aim obviously is a repeat bid in the Grand National in April, but we’ll get Cheltenham over with first before looking at future plans.

It was great to meet so many RacehorseClub members at Cheltenham in the parade ring before Balko’s last race, who were all there as official owners after winning the owners ticket ballot. I hope to meet many more members a week on Friday.”

Potters Corner will once again go head-to-head with Balko Des Flos

Potters Corner made a gallant effort from the front at Cheltenham back in November before getting tired up the famous Cheltenham hill.

His trainer Christian Williams has started the jumps season in flying form and reports Potters Corner to be in rude health.

Christian Williams said, “Potters is very well at home and it’s all systems go for Cheltenham next week. It’ll be good fun renewing rivalry with Balko Des Flos and I’m sure it’ll be a great day for RacehorseClub members watching on and off the track.

Potters will be running off eight pounds lower in the handicap than what he ran off in the cross-country last month which will help so I’m hopeful of some rain between now and next Friday which will further enhance his chances. Once again I’m looking forward to seeing many RacehorseClub members on track cheering Potters on.”

RacehorseClub’s Royal Ascot winner Create Belief nearing a return to training

She will return to Johnny Murtagh early in the new year, has wintered extremely well and will be aimed at some of the major races throughout the 2022 flat season. Hugely exciting times ahead with Create Belief.
