Why buy RacehorseClub shares? Ed Chamberlin reviews the first 5 months
Why racehorse micro shares instead of a racehorse syndicate?
What a journey it has been for RacehorseClub members!
Since launching on 1st April, five months later we have a Grand National runner up in Balko Des Flos and a Royal Ascot and Group 3 winner in Create Belief from only four horses.
The performances on the track have been quite simply exceptional.
Let’s start with Aintree. RacehorseClub’s first ever runners lined up ten days after we launched in the world’s greatest steeplechase, the Grand National.
Balko Des Flos and Potters Corner wore our unique silks for the first time and the fairy tale start duly happened.
Balko Des Flos ridden by Aidan Colemen and trained by the all-conquering Henry De Bromhead went off 100/1 with the bookmakers and only found Minella Times (a stablemate of Balko Des Flos) and the exceptional Rachel Blackmore too good for them on the day. Potters Corner also ran a gallant race on ground possibly too quick for him.
Both Balko Des Flos and Potters Corner did their members hugely proud and RacehorseClub had hit the world stage on our first attempt.

Our racehorse micro share owners get inside information
Members of RacehorseClub who won the owner's ticket ballot for both horses were on track even though there were no general public allowed due to Covid-19 restrictions, and what a day they had! Lisa Gillespie and her father Gabriel who attended Aintree as official owners of Balko Des Flos described the day as “one of the best days of our lives” as they welcomed Balko back into the winner’s enclosure.
Members were advised in their race preview which goes into their members area on the RacehorseClub website that the 100/1 on offer for Balko Des Flos was “tremendous value”. Many members took the advice and backed him each way. Together with a handsome return with prize money, it was also a great day financially for Balko’s members.
Balko Des Flos and Potters Corner have enjoyed well deserved summer holidays and are now back with their trainers, Henry De Bromhead and Christian Williams. Balko Des Flos will be aimed at the Cheltenham Cross Country races before another crack at the Grand National. Potters Corner will start at Chepstow on 8th October before taking in a possible rematch with Balko at Cheltenham in November ahead of a repeat bid of the Welsh Grand National, a race he won in 2019.

The Lir Jet now aiming for big prize money in the USA
The Lir Jet, a former Royal Ascot winner started his campaign in the Greenham Stakes at Newbury, traditionally a trial for the QIPCO 2000 Guineas for trainer Michael Bell. He finished a very close third and ran with huge credit. He then got bogged down in the mud at Haydock when favourite and again in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot.
He has since been gelded and has joined the hugely successful yard of Brendan Walsh in Kentucky, America and will continue to race for RacehorseClub members. He travelled over very well and his first run for Brendan will be on 11th September in the Franklin Simpson Stakes at Kentucky Downs. Superstar jockey Tyler Gaffalione has been pencilled in for the ride.
Whilst in Newmarket, members of the The Lir Jet enjoyed a brilliant yard visit and guided tour by Michael Bell before getting the opportunity to visit the National Stud.

Create Belief trained by Johnny Murtagh
We now come to a filly who when purchased by RacehorseClub was just a maiden winner for the remarkable Johnny Murtagh. Her name is Create Belief. Her first start for RacehorseClub was disappointing, finishing down the field in a listed race at Navan when the ground was too quick and the trip too far. Since then, she has beaten every rival she has come up against. A winner of a Premier Handicap at the Curragh on Irish Guineas weekend, she then went to Royal Ascot and hacked up in the Sandringham Stakes by five and a half lengths beating twenty rivals with ease.
Johnny Murtagh then gave her a nice break and brought her back for her toughest assignment yet, a Group 3 at Leopardstown. With regular jockey Ben Coen suspended, Shane Kelly took the reins to guide her to a comfortable success. She has since come out the race in fantastic form and now heads to the Group 1 Matron Stakes on Irish Champions Weekend back at Leopardstown on 11th September. If all goes well at Leopardstown she will then have a crack at the £1.1 million, Queen Elisabeth II Stakes at Ascot on QIPCO British Champions Day on 16th October.
She really is a horse of a lifetime and one who has already given RacehorseClub members memories for a lifetime. Winning members of the owners’ ticket ballot picked up her trophies on the podiums at Royal Ascot and Leopardstown.

What’s next for RacehorseClub?
Huge plans are happening to give our members the ultimate owners experience. Members of Potters Corner are invited to a stable visit to Christian Williams’ stunning yard on Tuesday 7th September. Visits to both Balko Des Flos and Create Belief are also in the pipeline in the near future. There will be zoom calls with all our trainers to report on their horse’s progress as well as much more. New horses are on the horizon which we hope will continue to perform on the big stage.
RacehorseClub ambassadors Ed Chamberlin and Oisin Murphy will also be on hand at upcoming social events for RacehorseClub members in the coming months. A new TV advert will be aired shortly after the huge success of our first advert which starred the world-famous Frankie Dettori.
