Profile

RacehorseClub is delighted to have Sky Sports Racing’s Freddy Tylicki as part of the management team. Champion Apprentice in 2009, Freddy was a top class jockey, winning over 550 races including two Group 1s.

Group 1 winning jockey turned Sky Sports Racing pundit

At the age of 30 at Kempton Park in October 2016, his mount, Nellie Dean, was involved in a four-horse pile-up. Freddy suffered severe spinal injuries which have left him paralysed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair. He has since shown incredible resilience and positivity to carve himself out a second career as a broadcaster, becoming a regular pundit on Sky.

Freddy is the son of the three-time German Champion Jockey Andrzej Tylicki, but he moved at the age of 15 from Germany to Ireland, where he began his professional life working for top trainers Dermot Weld and Jim Bolger, before emigrating again in 2008 to England, where he rapidly established a highly successful partnership with the Yorkshire-based handler, Richard Fahey.

Freddy later relocated to Newmarket to become stable jockey to James Fanshawe, and it was for Fanshawe that he enjoyed his two top level victories, both aboard the Shamardal filly, Speedy Boarding.
