Davy Russell

“I’m absolutely delighted to be teaming up with RacehorseClub. The concept is fantastic to get more people involved in racing and at the highest level. To be given the opportunity to be part of the horses RacehorseClub offer for such an affordable price is something which we have not seen in Europe before. The performances on the track of RacehorseClub horses in the past year have been nothing but sensational and I’m sure results will continue. I can’t wait to meet RacehorseClub members on and off the track in the coming months.”
Davy Russell
Profile
Born in Cork, Ireland, where he still lives with his family, Davy Russell achieved a heightened level of fame when he rode Tiger Roll to back-to-back successes in the 2018 and 2019 Aintree Grand Nationals.
It is a race that transcends the sport of horse racing and elevates horse and rider beyond the racing press. But to racing enthusiasts Davy Russell was already a great, having ridden over 1500 winners, he is eighth on the all-time list for most wins for a jump jockey. Davy is still riding winners both sides of the Irish sea and has a close affinity with racing fans all over the world.
If his Aintree successes marked high points in his stellar career, the Munster Grand National in October last year surely marked the lowest.
A shocking accident left him with neck injuries including two fractures and a dislocation. Plenty assumed that would be the end of a great career, they reckoned without the determination and tenacity of a true sporting great. He was back in the saddle and riding winners again within a year.
His passion for the sport remains undiminished and after 22 years in the saddle, it is still where he is at his happiest.
To have Davy on the RacehorseClub team is a huge asset both on and off the racecourse.
