Profile

RacehorseClub ambassador Oisin Murphy won the title in 2019, 2020 and 2021. He is the heir apparent to his friend, idol and rival, Frankie Dettori, in the role of the nation’s favourite jockey.

A natural in front of a camera or microphone, he has embraced the use of social media as a way of promoting the sport that he loves. He is a brilliant communicator, a skill which enables him to give expert feedback to owners immediately after every single ride, something that he can achieve in four different languages.

Born in Ireland, he has lived in Britain since 2012 and, based at trainer Andrew Balding’s famed jockey academy in Berkshire, he became Champion Apprentice Jockey in 2014.

He also achieved three Group 1 victories in Qatar Racing’s ‘claret with gold braid’ silks aboard Roaring Lion in 2018, while his reputation as a global superstar of the saddle was underlined in 2019 when he won the Nassau Stakes on the Japanese mare, Deirdre, then ventured to the Far East to land the Japan Cup on Suave Richard.
